a good ole time

3/20
The girls were having a grand time laughing. They have since watched this and laugh right along with it

Preschool Letter Q

Letter Q is for Quest.  Mike helped to create a quest for the girls.

The story: My citizens of Andersonville I welcome you to my castle. I am Queen Mommy and I have called you here today to seek out a brave pair to go on a quest for my missing quarter.

Last night I had quite a few guest in my home. I would like you to find out who took the quarter and where it is.

Do I have two faithful and brave citizens of my realm who are willing to undergo this quest?

Very good, you two will do well I can tell. You will find ?'s around the castle that will either give you a clue or send you on a mini quest to find the clue. I have provided a board to assist you in deducing who it was and where it is. Be quick and return safely!

Our Suspects: Aksel, Grandma Wendy, Auntie Brooke, Duchess, Uncle Will, Uncle Nate, Aunt Lindsey, Grandma Donna, Pop Pop, and Daddy.

Locations: Near the tv, with jewelry, under the recliner, near the peanut butter, in the 'sc bucket, near the printer, in the doll house, behind the picture of Christ, under the love sac, near the fridge

The girls went looking for the question marks and would see if it was a clue or a mini quest. An example of a clue was that the quarter was not hidden under furniture.  One of the quest said, "What animal says quack?" They went in search of a duck and by it was a clue.

Once they found a clue they brought it back to the board and would turn over suspects that have been proven innocent or a location that the quarter was not hidden.

Duchess happened to be our thief this time and had the quarter on her collar (dog jewelry). The girls thought it was hilarious that Duchess had the quarter.

Congratulations girls! You have completed your quest. Each of you receive a quarter of your own to keep for your diligent service to the queen.

Easter Craft Night

I found this craft on Pinterest (of course) and wanted to make. I thought they came out really cute and even Rachel got in the action and helped. Now I just need the right bowl to put them in so they stop rolling all over my table.

Easter Preschool week

3/24-28

I know I have a lot of catching up to do but for now I'm going to move forward in hopes that I'll be more willing to catch up if the distance from the last post wasn't so long ago.  So on to the fun week.

We didn't do a letter this week we focused on Easter.  Sunday night we had our family home evening since Mike was going to be gone on Monday. We were going to do a week long advent but the girls were so excited that they did it all that night. One of the activities was to draw a picture of their favorite story about Jesus. Rachel drew a nativity scene and Ashley drew him on the cross. I've said this before and I'm sure it will be said many more times but my girls are complete opposites.

Monday we read "There was an old lady who swallowed a chick" and feed our old lady the items she ate. We then used her again to sort /ch/ sounds   since the lady only eats things that start with /ch/.  Then they worked together to make this really cute chick that is now hanging on their bedroom door.

Tuesday we read the "Easter Bunny Who Overslept" and did some worksheets that had bunnies on it. We played a new game called Easter bump that the girls really liked. Ashley was thrilled because she won and Rachel wanted a rematch but just against me.  Apparently she thought she'd have better luck against me but was wrong.

Wednesday I didn't have a book since trying to get an Easter book the month before Easter is about impossible and I didn't want to buy any since the Easter Bunny will be bringing some. So we played an egg game (this time Rachel won and Ashley needed to play again she didn't win the second time either), they did a couple more worksheets, sorted, and made shaving cream eggs.  They came out really cute and were really easy to make. The girls thought the shaving cream felt really funny. Rachel decided she wanted to make puppets for "there was an old woman who swallowed a fly" which led to youtubing it and then watching many other versions.

Thursday we moved on to candy. No Easter is complete without the sweets. The girls did jellybean counting,   a jellybean observation where they used all 5 senses. The picture to the right is them smelling it.
We then did the peeps microwave experiment. Rachel thought it would get bigger and melt. Ashley thought it would get hot. It was hot alright. I blistered my finger on the plate trying to take them out. But the girls thought watching the peep in the microwave grow was exciting stuff.
I was about done after that but Ashley decided you can't have a candy day without playing candyland. She's probably right so the board game came out and after 2 games (Rachel won the first so Ashley had to play again so she could win (are you noticing a trend when it comes to games?) The girls stuffed their egss for the upcoming egg hunts.  And ate way too much candy before lunch.

It's the size of their head!

Snowing

I knew the playroom was a mess, but when I walked from the living room to the kitchen and saw this I was floored. The took an entire bucket of foam letters and it was all over the floor. I asked why and Ashley said, "They needed snow".  They were from my stove to the doll house.  They were very good and picked them all up, but then I kept finding them even in my kitchen sink.

Letter A week

I think we had a fun week.

Monday is A is for Ashley and had her party

Tuesday is Letter A day

We practice writing the letter. Ashley matched the letter A  crawled through a tunnel to find an a word. Rachel learned the am family, and the sight word am and then read "Pam and Sam"
 Wednesday- A is for Ants
We did preschool on a picnic blanket and had lunch. We read two books during lunch; One Hundred Hungry Ants and The Magic School Bus: Ants in Pants

Ashley shooing away ants

Craft: Ants in Pants
 Thursday: A is for Apples
Apple Picking

We did preschool at the orchard.

We read a book Apples to Applesauce and made our own.

"Win Rachel, Win Rachel"
 Friday- A is for Alien

We started by reading books; The Way Back Home, Aliens in Underpants (Rachel decided she likes aliens in this book), and then You Can't Eat Princesses!
During naptime aliens invaded the girls underpants

the girls followed the trail outside to find aliens

and got the aliens to surrender.
That night after Ashley's birthday dinner we had a family movie night and watched Lilo and Stitch.
